John Whelan Library



CATALOGUES AND SERVICES

The John Whelan Library (JWL), established in 1985 and named after Cambridge's astronomer John Whelan (QJRAS, 23, 460), is the library of the Isaac Newton Group of Telescopes (ING). It is particularly oriented to provide documentation services to the ING staff and visiting astronomers. For a quick start, please read the Library User Quick Guide. The JWL maintains liaison with some other libraries and consortia.

The JWL provides two locations, at the Roque de los Muchachos Observatory (ORM) and at sea level:

The JWL also provides a photographic Plate Library and a Old and Rare Book Library, and support for the astronomy documentation archives.
