Search and browse the catalogue of the John Whelan Library.

The John Whelan Library (JWL), established in 1985 and named after Cambridge's astronomer John Whelan (QJRAS, 23, 460), is the library of the Isaac Newton Group of Telescopes (ING). It is particularly oriented to provide documentation services to the ING staff and visiting astronomers. For a quick start, please read the Library User Quick Guide. The JWL maintains liaison with some other libraries and consortia.

The JWL provides two locations, at the Roque de los Muchachos Observatory (ORM) and at sea level:

The Isaac Newton Telescope (INT) Library is located at the INT building in the ORM.
The Sea-Level Office (SLO) Library is located at ING's SLO in Santa Cruz de La Palma, and it is the main library.

The JWL also provides a photographic Plate Library and a Old and Rare Book Library, and support for the astronomy documentation archives.
