WEAVE Operational Repository: Open to Users

21st February, 2024

Dear WEAVE Open Time PI,

On behalf of the WEAVE Science Processing and Analysis Team, we are happy to inform you that the Operational Repository (OR) is now available to log in and search for data obtained for all types of WEAVE science programmes (open time, ITP and the WEAVE Survey).

This is a major milestone for the WEAVE project and for the ING, paving the way for feeding science-ready data to all of you WEAVE users. It was accomplished thanks to an intense, dedicated effort from the Cambridge Astronomical Survey Unit (CASU), and we owe them a big thanks.

The rest of this message contains details about (1) how to access your data; (2) what products are available at the OR; and (3) how to provide feedback about the OR and the data products.

More information about the WEAVE Open Time programme, including updates to the data availability, can be found at:

https://www.ing.iac.es/astronomy/observing/WEAVE-OT.html

(1) Accessing the OR

The OR can be accessed at the following link:

http://casu.ast.cam.ac.uk/weave/

Your login credentials for the OR are the same as you used for WASP when submitting your project OBs. If you do not remember your username/password combination for any reason, please do NOT try to reset the password yourself. Instead send an email to:

weave_open_time_supporting.iac.es

(2) Data products available

CASU notes the following:

The current available functionality of the OR is limited to:

  • Searching and downloading data (raw, L1, L2).
  • Viewing the OB log, where an overview of survey progress is provided.
  • Viewing a log of the requested data.

Regarding the existing data in the OR, please note:

  • All raw data from 20230501 to 20240217 are available except for nights for which data ingestion failed.
  • Users are advised to check the OB status page for the 2024A1 trimester to see if/when new data arrive (email notifications are not yet in place).
  • L1 data (CASU version 0.85): observing dates from 20230501 to 20240217. Only science-class OBs were processed, only OB-level stacks generated under this version. Efforts are ongoing to process failed nights within this date range. Earlier (and future) nights will be processed automatically.
  • L2 data (APS version 7.0.0): data are incoming and ingested as they arrive. Users are able to see the progress in the OB log, but updating the status of each OB is currently manual (the status of each night state is not, but isn't available to end users yet).

More information about the data products can be found on the OR pages:

http://casu.ast.cam.ac.uk/weave/datamodel

(3) Providing feedback

Comments and suggestions should be emailed to:

weave_open_time_supporting.iac.es

When reporting a problem with the OR please include a clear description of the action that resulted in the problem.

Reports of any issues with L1 (CPS) or L2 (APS) data should mention the relevant filename and the values of the following parameters:

  • SOFTVERS (CPS/L1 data)
  • CASUDATE (CPS/L1 data)
  • APSUID (APS/L2 data)
  • APSDATE (APS/L2 data)

CASU thanks you for your patience while any teething issues are identified and resolved, and asks you to provide as much constructive and informative feedback as possible.

Best wishes,

Javier Méndez
