NAOJCam: National Astronomical Observatory of Japan Camera |
First light (at ING): April 1996. Designed and built by: NAO Japan and University of Tokyo.
Description: The NAOJ Camera is a prototype of the instrument planned for the Subaru Japanese large telescope project. The instrument is an array 0f 40 1024x1024 CCDs, each with 15 micron pixels. The gap between the CCDs is about equal to the size of the CCDs, and a single widefield (50x30 arcmin) image is generated from a set of 4 exposures.
