WFC: Wide-Field Camera

First light (at ING): May 1997. Designed and built by: Royal Greenwich Observatory (United Kingdom), Kapteyn Sterrenwacht Werkgroep (Holland) and the Lawerence Berkeley Laboratories (California).
Description: The WFC is based on a mosaic of four thinned 2048 x 2048 pixel Loral CCDs. These detectors were replaced by EEV CCDs in April 1998.
