The Sculptor Galaxy
Description: Image of the Sculptor Galaxy or NGC253. This spiral galaxy is at approximately 11 million light years from our galaxy. An intense star formation is currently undergoing in this galaxy, which means it is rapidly turning molecular gas and dust into new stars. The image has been taken using a 130mm f5.7 refractor, an Atik 460 monochromatic cooled camera, and an Avalon mount. An average of 10 images of 300' each were taken using standard R, G, B filters.
