John Whelan Library Bulletin is issued at irregular intervals,
whenever there is important news from the Location. Suggestions and
comments on this bulletin are welcome.
Note: The INT Library is situated on the first floor of the
Isaac Newton Telescope building and the SLO Library is placed on the
sixth floor of Mayantigo building. The SLO Library is split into a
Book Library, a Periodical Library and a Display, all located on the
same floor. Online information can be found at:

1. RECENT BOOK ACQUISITIONS

the New Acquisitons shelf in the display at the social area
on the 6th floor of Mayantigo building (SLO Display). All of
them can be borrowed as usual unless they are marked as books
not to be taken away.

2. OTHER NEWS

Astrophysical Journal Letters online only.
In 2009 the AAS will produce the Astrophysical Journal Letters
entirely on digital production equipment, and only to print the
Letters when absolutely required.
All journal content on Blackwell Synergy is merging into Wiley
InterScience.
As of June 30th 2008, all Blackwell journal content-including all
full-text HTML and PDF versions of articles from current issues,
backfiles, and issues published online before print-will be
incorporated into Wiley InterScience. Blackwell publishes the
journal Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society and the
online links to the articles will not be affected by this
change.
The new home of the Astronomical Journal.
IOP Publishing has taken the publication of the Astronomical
Journal from University of Chicago Press from March 10, 2008.
The digital backfile is also available on the IOP site,
comprising all articles published from 1998 onwards, and the
online links to the articles have been updated
accordingly.

GOLD RULES FOR LIBRARY USERS
1. NONE of the items at the INT Library, the SLO Periodical Library
or the SLO Display can be borrowed, except those withdrawn from
the Library and marked as so.
2. ALL items at the SLO Book Library can be borrowed except those
labeled as 'NOT TO BE TAKEN AWAY' or 'FOR REFERENCE'.
3. If, after having a look at a book, you don't know where to put it
back, please leave it in the RETURNED BOOKS tray at the SLO Book
Library.
4. NEVER take away a book without filling in a LOAN CARD.
5. NEVER place a filled loan card on the shelves. Leave it in the
FILLED LOAN CARDS mailbox at the SLO Book Location instead. Books
must be returned within one year.
6. After borrowing, NEVER return a book to the shelves, even if you
know the right place. Leave it in the RETURNED BOOKS tray at the
SLO Book Library.
7. NEVER take away the books placed in the RETURNED BOOKS tray.
