John Whelan Location Bulletin is issued at irregular intervals,
whenever there is important news from the Location. Suggestions and
comments on this bulletin are welcome.
Note: The INT Location is situated on the first floor of the
Isaac Newton Telescope building and the SLO Location is placed on the
sixth floor of Mayantigo building. The SLO Location is split into a
Book Location, a Periodical Location and a Display, all located on the
same floor. Online information can be found at:

1. NEW ONLINE SUBSCRIPTIONS
---------------------------
As part of the move that we started a couple of years ago from print
subscriptions to only-online version and to share the costs with IAC,
we have started a shared subscription to ScienceDirect, Elsevier
editors' online journal repository. We also took this opportunity not
only to provide access to the already subscribed New Astronomy and
New Astronomy Reviews journals, but also to add some new titles.

is based on recognising terminal's IP.
Our current print subscription to New Astronomy and New Astronomy
Reviews will be stopped at the end of 2008.
2. RECENT BOOK ACQUISITIONS

the New Acquisitons shelf in the display at the social area
on the 6th floor of Mayantigo building (SLO Display). All of
them can be borrowed as usual unless they are marked as books

GOLD RULES FOR LOCATION USERS
1. NONE of the items at the INT Library, the SLO Periodical Library
or the SLO Display can be borrowed, except those withdrawn from
the Library and marked as so.
2. ALL items at the SLO Book Library can be borrowed except those
labeled as 'NOT TO BE TAKEN AWAY' or 'FOR REFERENCE'.
3. If, after having a look at a book, you don't know where to put it
back, please leave it in the RETURNED BOOKS tray at the SLO Book
Library.
4. NEVER take away a book without filling in a LOAN CARD.
5. NEVER place a filled loan card on the shelves. Leave it in the
FILLED LOAN CARDS mailbox at the SLO Book Library instead. Books
must be returned within one year.
6. After borrowing, NEVER return a book to the shelves, even if you
know the right place. Leave it in the RETURNED BOOKS tray at the
SLO Book Library.
7. NEVER take away the books placed in the RETURNED BOOKS tray.
