John Whelan Library Bulletin is issued at irregular intervals,
whenever there is important news from the library. Suggestions and
comments on this bulletin are welcome.
Note: The INT Library is the library on the first floor of the Isaac
Newton Telescope building and the SLO Library is located on the sixth
floor of Mayantigo building, the ING's, TNG's and NOT's sea-level
base in Santa Cruz de La Palma. The SLO Library is split into a Book
Library and a Periodical Library, both located on the same floor.

- "Software Development" will be incorporated into the title "Dr
Dobb's Journal - Software Tools" (1044-789X) for the Professional
Programmer after 31 May 2006, Vol. 14 No. 5.
- "The Hvar Observatory Bulletin" (founded in 1977, ISSN 0351-2657) has
changed its name to "Central European Astrophysical Bulletin" starting
with volume 30 (2006). The Bulletin is published once a year by the
Faculty of Geodesy, University of Zagreb (Croatia), and it's displayed
at the SLO Periodical Library.
- "Astrobiology" (ISSN 1531-1074) is a new journal subscription that it's
displayed at the SLO Periodical Library.
- The journal "The Astronomy and Astrophysics Review" (ISSN 0935-4956)
has resumed publication in April 2006 (the former issue had been
published in December 2004).

GOLD RULES FOR LIBRARY USERS
1. NONE of the items at the INT Library or the SLO Periodical Library
can be borrowed.
2. ALL items at the SLO Book Library can be borrowed except those
labeled as 'NOT TO BE TAKEN AWAY' or 'FOR REFERENCE'.
3. If, after having a look at a book, you don't know where to put it
back, please leave it in the RETURNED BOOKS tray at the SLO Book
Library.
4. NEVER take away a book without filling in a LOAN CARD.
5. NEVER place a filled loan card on the shelves. Leave it in the
FILLED LOAN CARDS mailbox at the SLO Book Library instead. Books
must be returned within one year.
6. After borrowing, NEVER return a book to the shelves, even if you
know the right place. Leave it in the RETURNED BOOKS tray at the
SLO Book Library.
7. NEVER take away the books placed in the RETURNED BOOKS tray.
