3. OTHER NEWS
-------------

- The University of Chicago Press and the American Astronomical
Society proudly announce a new online preprint service. The mission
of the preprint service is to make available online all articles from
the Astrophysical Journal and Supplement AS SOON AS THEY ARE ACCEPTED
FOR PUBLICATION.

Posted only after rigorous peer-review, these articles maintain the
highest scientific standards, making them timely, reliable and
accurate.

Subscribers are given the tools to not only read the research weeks
before it is published, but also to query the authors and, of course,
download and print the articles in either PDF or PostScript format.
Once a paper is officially published, it will be removed from the
preprint archive. Readers may also subscribe to an e-mail alerting
service that will send the titles and authors of recently accepted
papers.

Researchers around the world are encouraged to take advantage of this
invaluable tool via the Astrophysical Journal web site at
www.journals.uchicago.edu/ApJ/future/html.

The list of accepted papers is accessible to anyone, but subscription
access (via personal or institutional subscription) is required to
download the papers themselves.
