John Whelan Library Bulletin is issued at irregular intervals, whenever
there is important news at the library. Suggestions and comments on this
bulletin are welcome.

Note: The INT Library is the library on the first floor of the Isaac
Newton Telescope building and the SLO Library is located on the sixth
floor of Mayantigo building, the observatory's sea-level base in Santa
Cruz de La Palma. The SLO Library is split into a Book Library and a
Periodical Library both located on the same floor.

1. NEW BOOK ACQUISITIONS
------------------------

The following books have arrived recently. If location isn't specified,
they can be found on the New Acquisitions shelf in the SLO Periodical
Library. All of them can be borrowed as usual unless they are marked as
books not to be taken away.

2. OTHER NEWS
-------------

- JSTORE, the scholarly journal archive, now provides access to Science
journal from 1880 to 1996. ING users can access this archive. Please
search for Science (location=Online) in library's online catalogue and get
the username and password.

- The INT Library is still being expanded. We apologise for the
inconveniences this might cause.

GOLD RULES FOR LIBRARY USERS

1. NONE of the items at the INT Library or the SLO Periodical Library can
be borrowed.

2. ALL items at the SLO Book Library can be borrowed expect those labeled
as 'NOT TO BE TAKEN AWAY' or 'FOR REFERENCE'.

3. If, after having a quick look at a book, you don't know where to put it
back just leave it in the 'RETURNED BOOKS' tray at the SLO Book Library.

4. NEVER take away a book without filling in a LOAN CARD.

5. NEVER place a filled loan card on the shelves. Leave it in the 'FILLED
LOAN CARDS' tray at the SLO Book Library instead. Books must be returned
within one year.

6. NEVER return a book to the shelves, even if you know the right place.
Leave it in the 'RETURNED BOOKS' tray at the SLO Book Library instead.
