bulletin are welcome.

Note: The INT Library is the library on the first floor of the Isaac Newton

1. NEW BORROWING SYSTEM
-----------------------

We have started a new borrowing system at the library which is more
simple than the one being used so far. Below I have summarised the new
rules:

1. NONE of the items at the INT Library or the SLO Periodical Library can be
borrowed.

2. ALL items at the SLO Book Library can be borrowed expect those labeled as
'Not to be taken away' or 'For reference'.

3. NEVER take away a book from the SLO Book Library without filling in a
loan card.

4. To borrow a book, fill in one of the loan cards available at the SLO Book
Library. Please complete all fields legibly.

5. NEVER place a filled loan card on the shelves. Leave it in the 'FILLED
LOAN CARDS' tray at the SLO Book Library instead.

6. Books must be returned within ONE YEAR.

7. When returning a book, DO NOT put it on the shelves (EVEN IF you know the
right place). Leave it in the 'RETURNED BOOKS' tray at the SLO Book Library
instead.

8. If, after having a quick look at a book, you don't know where to put it
back just leave it in 'RETURNED BOOKS' tray at the SLO Book Library.

Your co-operation is essential and I appreciate it.

2. THE CATALOGUE IS ON-LINE!
----------------------------

The catalogue of books and periodicals is now available on line. Please
follow the link at the library web pages:
http://www.ing.iac.es/Astronomy/library/.

You will find:

- Access to the catalogue of books and periodicals. The catalogue of books
also includes CD-ROMs, dikettes, DVDs and book series.
- In the catlogue of periodicals, direct access to the on-line edition if
  available.
- Information on your current loans.
- Information on the pending book orders.
- Etc.

You don't have to logon to the system to make searches but you really need
to if you want to access your personal information. First time you login,
please use your username (at ING, NOT or TNG). If the system replies
that the username already exists please contact me to get the password.

This great software has been developed by Peter Sorensen (ING).

3. IAU CIRCULARS
----------------

The library is subscribed to the IAU circulars so we can receive the latest
circulars as soon as they are delivered. Please let me know if you want to
receive IAU circulars in your email box. If not remember that you can access
the last and previous circulars in the library web pages on the ING
intranet. NOT and TNG users can access them here:
http://www.ing.iac.es/~iaucirc/. I thank Robert Greimel (ING) for having
written the script which fetchs the circulars from email.

4. SUBSCRIPTIONS TO PERIODICALS
-------------------------------

- 'Space Science Reviews'. Subscription cancelled.
- 'RB Elektronica & Allesweter'. Old frequency: 10 times a year. New
  frequency: 12 times a year.

  No print version any more.
