1. LIBRARY EXPANSION UPDATE
---------------------------
Most of the boxes have been moved from the La Grama store to the SLO and INT
libraries. Cataloguing now follows. As we had planned at the beginning of
the move, we still need more space for placing about 100 boxes full of rare
collections of journals. Plans are now being discussed for next financial
year and in the meantime these boxes will stay at La Grama.
We have also produced about 250 boxes of duplicates which have been correctly
packed and stored at La Grama. Although taking a decision on the final
destination of these duplicates isn't a priority at the moment, we welcome
offers and ideas.
Finally we took the decision of storing at sea-level only the publications
which were being displayed there. The rest is kept at the INT library.
For updated information on the location of each collection please visit
the library web pages. For more information please contact the librarian.
I apologise

will contact the users who have borrowed books individually.
FREE SUBSCRIPTIONS
The following web page offers access to many free subscriptions. Probably you
will find very useful subscribing some of them:

CURIOSITIES
Issue 10 Oct 1997 of Science magazine arrived at the library from the editors
on 1 Dec 1999, more than 2 years late! (usual delay is just one month).
Reason is unknown and this is a new record.
LIBRARIAN ASSISTANCE
Jose Norbert Gonzalez and Peter Sorensen, ING Telescope Operators, have been
kindly assisting the librarian in cataloguing books and upgrading the
catalogues to SQL as part of their day-time work.
