XOasis Data Reduction

The OASIS spectrograph has a dedicated data reduction package called XOasis. The software was developed by the TIGER team at CRAL, and it is distributed free of charge to astronomical institutions and to individual scientists within the astronomical community.

XOasis is currently available for Linux and MacOs X operating systems, and can be downloaded from the Lyon OASIS pages. (Note that the Linux version is more up-to-date.) There is also an accompanying online manual.

The ING has produced a Beginner's Guide to XOasis, which gives a visual overview of XOasis. It also discusses details specific to OASIS data generated at the WHT.

If you have any queries or problems related to XOasis, please contact the ING.

The ING will send 'XOasis News' to XOasis users on their mailing list. If you would like to be added or removed from this mailing list, please contact us. All previous news items are archived below:

20 February 2006 - XOasis News #1

XOasis News #1 can be downloaded in html or pdf formats. It gives information and advice on a range of data reduction issues. The most critical recommendations are given below:
  • Linux users should not use v6.4 of XOasis (which has been withdrawn).
  • Versions 6.3.1 and 6.3 can be downloaded from the Lyon website. We recommend users to download v6.3.1 due to its better handling of the OAFCLASS headers.
  • The 'Euro3D' format is currently not recommended.
