On 14 June, 2018 Richard Brent Tully (University of Hawaii) visited the ORM. With James Fisher, Richard proposed the Tully-Fisher relation, which shows that the luminosity of a galaxy and the orbital velocities of its stars are correlated, and therefore, it can be used as a new method of determining distances to galaxies.
