Spanish Television Films "The Last Frontier" at the WHT

On Thursday, June 24, a Spanish Television (TVE) team travelled to the Roque de los Muchachos Observatory (ORM) to film part of the first episode of the series "La Última Frontera", which is dedicated to science dissemination and has Javier Santaolalla, who discovered his vocation for science during a visit to the WHT in 1992, as its main presenter. The ORM filming was focused on the WHT and an interview with our colleague Cecilia Fariña. The first episodes are expected to air next October.

Cecilia comments: "I am very happy that ING had the opportunity to participate in this programme. I think it is important to make our work with telescopes and our contribution as an observatory to scientific knowledge transcend those of us specialising in astronomy, and also to be a contribution to the education and general knowledge of people who are not professionally linked to astronomy. Knowledge is a value of everyone and for everyone. In addition, these types of activities are the ones that leave small traces that inspire new generations of future scientists. It was an interesting experience, a lot of work and all new for me, so quite fun too. I hope it looks nice in the final edition of the show."
