Acknowledgement

The ING asks users of its facilities to give proper acknowledgement to this effect in the papers that they publish, and are kindly requested to email the ING librarian with the publication details and the ING PR Officer, if the results are worth a public release.

Depending on whether the observations were obtained via standard scheduled observations, service time, an override programme, discretionary time, the ING archive, or an ING survey, please use one of the forms of words below.

The Standard Programme

If the data were obtained as part of a standard scheduled programme, then please use the following acknowledgement:
  • (preferably) as a footnote to the title:

Based on observations made with the (name of the telescope) operated on the island of La Palma by the Isaac Newton Group of Telescopes in the Spanish Observatorio del Roque de los Muchachos of the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias.

  • (if the editors will not allow the footnote) then in the acknowledgement section:

The (name of the telescope) is operated on the island of La Palma by the Isaac Newton Group of Telescopes in the Spanish Observatorio del Roque de los Muchachos of the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias.
If possible, please add the proposal reference/s or the dates of the observations, e.g. 'The ISIS spectroscopy was obtained as part of SW2012a11 and W12AN005. LIRIS photometry was obtained as part of W/2011A/12.'

If the observations were obtained in service mode by a local ING astronomer (and not as part of the ING Service Programme, see next section), please add the observer's name to the author list of any resulting publications.

The ING Service Programme

If the data were obtained as part of a proposal of the ING Service Programme, please use the following acknowledgement:
  • (preferably) as a footnote to the title:

Based on service observations made with the (name of the telescope) operated on the island of La Palma by the Isaac Newton Group of Telescopes in the Spanish Observatorio del Roque de los Muchachos of the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias.

  • (if the editors will not allow the footnote) then in the acknowledgement section:

The (name of the telescope) and its service programme are operated on the island of La Palma by the Isaac Newton Group of Telescopes in the Spanish Observatorio del Roque de los Muchachos of the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias.
If possible, please add the proposal reference/s (e.g. 'SW2010a01'):

This work is based on service observations made with the [name of the telescope] (programme [reference, ie. SW2021a01]) operated on the island of La Palma by the Isaac Newton Group of Telescopes in the Spanish Observatorio del Roque de los Muchachos of the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias.

The ING Service Mode

If the data were obtained in service mode (service-mode scheme on the INT), please use the following acknowledgement:
  • (preferably) as a footnote to the title:

Based on service-mode observations made with the (name of the telescope) operated on the island of La Palma by the Isaac Newton Group of Telescopes in the Spanish Observatorio del Roque de los Muchachos of the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias.

  • (if the editors will not allow the footnote) then in the acknowledgement section:

The (name of the telescope) and its service mode are operated on the island of La Palma by the Isaac Newton Group of Telescopes in the Spanish Observatorio del Roque de los Muchachos of the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias.
If possible, please add the proposal reference/s (e.g. 'W/2017A/01') and the dates of the observations.

The ING Override Programme

If the data were obtained as part of a proposal of the ING Override Programme, please use the following acknowledgement:
  • (preferably) as a footnote to the title:

Based on override observations made with the (name of the telescope) operated on the island of La Palma by the Isaac Newton Group of Telescopes in the Spanish Observatorio del Roque de los Muchachos of the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias.

  • (if the editors will not allow the footnote) then in the acknowledgement section:

The (name of the telescope) and its override programme are operated on the island of La Palma by the Isaac Newton Group of Telescopes in the Spanish Observatorio del Roque de los Muchachos of the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias.
If possible, please add the proposal reference/s (e.g. 'W/2010A/1') or the dates of the observations.

The ING Discretionary Time

If the data were obtained on a discretionary night, or as part of a discretionary allocation authorised by the ING Director, please use the following acknowledgement:
  • (preferably) as a footnote to the title:

Based on discretionary-time observations made with the (name of the telescope) operated on the island of La Palma by the Isaac Newton Group of Telescopes in the Spanish Observatorio del Roque de los Muchachos of the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias.

If possible, please add the proposal reference/s (e.g. 'W/2010A/1') or the dates of the observations.

The ING Archive

If the data were obtained from the ING Archive, please use the following acknowledgement:

This paper makes use of data obtained from the Isaac Newton Group of Telescopes Archive which is maintained as part of the CASU Astronomical Data Centre at the Institute of Astronomy, Cambridge.

The ING WFC Survey Programmes

If the data were obtained as part of one of the ING WFC Survey Programmes, please use the following acknowledgement:

  • (preferably) as a footnote to the title:

Based on observations made through the Isaac Newton Group's Wide Field Camera Survey Programme with the Isaac Newton Telescope operated on the island of La Palma by the Isaac Newton Group of Telescopes in the Spanish Observatorio del Roque de los Muchachos of the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias.

  • (if the editors will not allow the footnote) then in the acknowledgement section:

The data were made publically available through the Isaac Newton Group's Wide Field Camera Survey Programme.
