The Prime Focus Imaging Platform (PFIP) or Prime Focus Camera is an optical mosaic camera for use at the prime focus of the 4.2m William Herschel Telescope. PFIP consists of two EEV 2k×4k CCDs, giving a pixel scale of 0.24" and a field of view 16.2'×16.2' (the gap between the two chips is 9" across). A selection of filters is available. The filter wheel can hold 7 filters simultaneously. Binning and windowing of the mosaic are supported. |
