De-commissioned: November 1997.
Description: The Richardson-Brearley Spectrograph was built by R. Edwin at the University of St Andrews, following the original design by Richardson and Brearley. It is an efficient, lightweight, yet robust and stable, off-axis spectrograph, intended primarily for low- and medium-resolution stellar spectroscopy. It used to be operated manually and used photographic plates to record the spectra, but both were replaced with a CCD and computer control.
