4.2.1.1 Compact Folder page

Showing or hiding [Action] bars or Descriptions in the entries in its page is a persistent attribute of a Folder, Meeting etc. As a default, BSCW shows an [Action] bar and the Description that an object may have, in each object's entry in a Folder page. The price to pay for this convenience is that each entry takes up more screen "real estate" and that the HTML files describing the pages may be substantially larger.

Starting from this default you may specify for each Folder that its page is to be displayed without the [Action] bars and / or without the Descriptions that objects may have (see section 3.1.2).

Among your Preferences you may change this default setting and have BSCW display the pages of newly created Folders, Meetings, Discussions etc. in a compact style, i. e. without [Action] bars or the Descriptions that objects may have:

If you then need the [Action] bars or the Descriptions in the page of a particular Folder etc.,

To make a Folder etc. hide in its page the [Action] bars or the Descriptions that objects may have,

Note:
You can reduce the data transmission volume even more if you do not browse through the Folder hierarchy but use the Bookmarks or Favorites or Hotlist function of your browser to directly access the objects you need -- or at least the Folder pages in which they are listed.
The 'Daily Workspace Activity Report' to which you can subscribe from your Preferences form provides very useful additional support here (see section 4.2.5).
