ING Instrumentation Options 2002B


This page gives an overview of the instrumentation available on the WHT, INT and JKT. It is revised bi-annually to reflect the options offered in each semester. Full information on all the listed instruments is indexed in the Manuals Home Page, and information on older instruments can be found on-line in the Obsolete Instruments section of the Manuals Home Page. TNG Timeshare: As part of a collaboration between ING and TNG, NL and UK observers may apply to use three TNG instruments. These are: The high resolution spectrograph, SARG The near infrared camera-spectrometer, NICS, in non-AO spectroscopic mode only The multi-object low-resolution optical spectrograph, DOLORES A minimum of five nights are available, and NL and UK applicants should submit proposals on their standard application forms to the NFRA PC and UK PATT respectively. Instrument non-availability: UES and INTEGRAL will be unavailable due to the construction of the Nasmyth AO platform, GRACE NAOMI applicants are encouraged to check the NICMOS data archive before submitting applications. Email links to the instrument specialists are given; please contact them directly if you require further information about any instrument. SIGNAL can be used to calculate exposure times for any telescope/instrument/detector combination.

§ Notes

NAOMI/INGRID is offered on a common-user (but shared-risks) basis in semester 2002B.

The AUTOFIB2 small fibres module is offered on a common-user basis in semester 2002B. The large fibres module has been withdrawn.

AUX port imaging is permanently available using CuSO4-U and Harris-BVRI filters only. Changes to other filters are permitted for runs scheduled specifically for AUX port.
