4.9.4 Browsing Notes
BSCW provides different ways to display the contents of Notes and to browse a Discussion Forum or the Web of linked Notes:
- Click the
icon in the Discussion's entry in a Folder page
to show the list of entries in the Discussion. As a default, the message of each Note is displayed as part of its entry.
- Click the Discussion name in its entry in a Folder page or Meeting page
to display the Discussion page. As a default, the message of each Note is displayed as part of its entry.
- Note:
- To keep the length of the Discussion page manageable on screen, you may hide the messages of the Notes:
- Click
on the button bar for selected objects
to hide the messages of all Notes.
- Select entries and
- click
on the button bar for selected objects
to hide the messages of the selected Notes.
- Click the
icon to the left of the Note's name
to hide the message of this particular Note.
- This helps to keep the Discussion page short and allows you to focus on the new Notes immediately. This setting also determines whether the message of a Note will be displayed when the list of entries in the Discussion is shown in the page of a higher-level Folder or Meeting.
A Note is displayed in a page that offers two modes of navigation:
- the Web of links to the Notes that this Note replies to and to the replies that this Note has already triggered:
The Note's page lists the names (text in the 'Subject' fields) of the Notes that this Note replies to, as clickable links to their pages. As the Note triggers replies, their names (text in the 'Subject' fields) are added to the list of replies shown in the Note's page.
- the sequence in which the Notes have been added to the Discussion, irrespective of the "threads" they belong to:
