3.4.4.1 Actions on selected objects

For actions that can be applied to several objects in parallel:

• Select the objects by marking their checkboxes, then
• Click    on the button bar for selected objects

to select all entries in the page;

• click   

to de-select all entries in the page.

• Click the appropriate button on the button bar for selected objects.

to trigger the action.

Unless you use the JavaScript-enhanced user interface (more in section 4.2.2), selecting or deselecting all objects is executed on the server, and the page has to be reloaded.

If you select an object for an action that cannot be performed on this particular object, or on the class of objects, BSCW will perform the action only on those objects where the action is "legitimate".

 

indicates to BSCW that you have taken note of the current Events (i. e. the actions on the selected objects) and that you do not want to be reminded of them any longer. The Event icons in the selected entries are removed.

Note:

  on a Folder is applied recursively to the complete contents of the Folder and its subfolders.

As a shortcut,    affects all objects in a Folder when none is selected. Thus, the effect is identical to clicking the    button on the top button bar.

 

puts a copy of the selected objects into your Bag (more in section 3.6.1).

 

transfers the selected objects to your Bag (more in section 3.6.1).

 

transfers the selected objects to your Wastebasket (more in section 3.6.2).

 

packs the selected objects into a .tar or .zip archive file. This function is particularly useful if you want to download a Document that in its original format would be displayed by your Web browser, or a large number of Documents (more in section 4.13).

 

lets you send the selected objects and -- recursively -- their contents as email attachments. Recipients may be selected from your Address Book; their address may also be entered in the form.

An identical button may be available in Members pages, Participants pages and your Address Book page. Here the action lets you select users and BSCW Groups (see section 4.5.3) and combine them in an ad-hoc mailing list.
