Welcome to the Seeing pages
ING now provides online seeing measurements throughout
the night, thanks to its Robotic Differential Image Motion Monitor (known
as RoboDIMM). It tooks its first data on 18 August 2002, to coincide
with the first PATT-scheduled NAOMI run.
Information about RoboDIMM and other topics relevant to Atmospheric Seeing at ING telescopes should be easily available through this page - see the links on the left. Please report errors, omissions or suggestions to the last author, listed at the foot of each page. News provides links to recent or important developments in the monitoring and publishing of seeing information at ING, especially changes in these web pages. During the night the latest seeing measurement from RoboDIMM is published live on the ING Weather Station. Look in the RoboData section for links to seeing or other data relevant to observing (current or archived) or for information on how RoboDIMM data is obtained and calibrated. The RoboDIMM section details the hardware, software and operation of this monitor. The RoboDIMM project grew out of the conclusions to the ING's Half Arcsecond Programme (1993-2000), a series of investigations into telescope image quality carried out in preparation for adaptive optics at the WHT. Click on the HAP link to visit the Web pages of the Half Arcsecond Programme. |
