5.1 Meeting
BSCW offers a Meeting object, represented by the
type icon, that lets you organize, prepare and support events of synchronous cooperation:
- The Meeting object manages information about the details of a specific synchronous cooperation event -- date, time, place, participants, type of meeting etc.
- The Meeting object can be used as a Folder for preparatory Documents, presentations, proceedings etc. of the actual meeting.
- The Meeting object lets you initiate virtual synchronous cooperation (e. g. via a computer conferencing application over the Internet) by starting the appropriate program and establishing connections.
You can access a Meeting object (= display its page) from
- its entry in the page of the Folder where the Meeting object was created or where it has been transferred;
- its entry in your
Calendar that manages all your Meeting objects for you (see section 5.2).
By default, all members of the Workspace see the Meeting's entry in the Folder page -- even though they have not been invited to attend. The members invited to attend the (actual) meeting have an entry for the Meeting object in their individual Calendars, too.
