3.2.3 Major differences to the Windows Explorer

In many respects you use the List window and the Table window like their Explorer counterparts. There are a few differences, though:

• In JBrowser, you cannot move or copy objects by drag & drop.
• In the JBrowser List window the    icons let you display or hide the names of the Folders contained in a Folder. This icon is displayed only after the Folder has been opened and its contents displayed in the Table window.
• In the JBrowser Table window you have to double-click the column headers to sort the table by this column.
  Some of the columns that may be displayed cannot be used for sorting.
  Sorting is done in JBrowser; the sort order in the HTML-based Folder page is not affected.
• In JBrowser the modification of an object name (in the List window or in the Table window) must be sent to the BSCW server:
• Edit the name.
• Press the Return key.

The name will return to the pre-editing version.

• Click the    button

to make JBrowser reload the updated information and display the modification.

• The optional Info window is a JBrowser feature not available in the Microsoft Windows Explorer. The text field in the Info window displays the Description of the selected object or the message of the selected Note. Both may be edited:
• Edit the text.
• Click

  to send the modified Description to the BSCW server.

  Or

• Choose Change Note from the context menu of the Note

to send the modified text to the BSCW server.

The text will return to the pre-editing version.

• Click the    button

to make JBrowser reload and display the updated information.
