Restore FISBA Hard Drive
The backup
CDs, along with the spare FISBA hard drive and 'Ghost' boot disk can be found
on the second shelve of the black cabinet inside GRACE. If there is
a problem with the spare hard drive then another drive maybe used.
It must be bigger than the hard drive image, which is currently around 5.5
Gb. You could also try to restore FISBA to the original harddrive.
A copy of the Ghost boot disk can be obtained from CFG, if missing.
IMPORTANT
- currently this can't be done from the FISBA machine as it needs a new floppy
drive. You must find a machine with a CD Rom and a floppy disk that
you can access. There is one in the 1st floor computer room.
To restore
the image on the backup CD's to a hard drive please follow the instructions
below.
- Boot the computer from the Ghost boot disk. During the boot process
you may witness a number of errors. These can safely be ignored.
- When the "About Symantec Ghost" window appears, click on the "OK" button.
- Put the first CD, that contains the image to be restored, into the
CD drive.
- From the menu that appears at the bottom left-hand corner of the screen,
choose the following options : Local Disk From Image
- At the "Select Source Drive" prompt, click "OK".
- From the "Look in" window, select the CD-RW option from the pull-down
menu.
- Select the disk image that you would like to restore by clicking on
it. Usually there will only be one.
- Select the local destination drive by clicking on the drive number.
Usually this will be 1.
- After you have clicked on the drive number click "OK".
- You will then be prompted to proceed with disk load. At this
stage you should respond with "yes".
- When prompted to insert media, these system is requesting the next
CD in the series.
- Replace the current CD with the subsequent CD and press the enter key
to continue.
- Repeat step 12 when necessary until the clone is complete.
- Remove the floppy and the CD from the computer.
- Restart the computer by clicking on the "Reset Computer" button.
