Autofib 2/WYFFOS Telescope Instrument Removal Procedure

Section 3 : Removing AF2 (1/2)
 

Telescope Preparation

  1.       Bring the telescope to access park and fit the ties.
  2.       Position rotator with the top mark on AF2 at the top of the rotator.
  3.       At the PFIP controller on the top end ring turn both power switches to the off position.
Removal of the Autoguider
  1.       Turn the power off to the autoguider.
  2.       Leave the autoguider head fitted to AF2.
  3.       Remove the autoguider cabling and store in the autofib cabinet.
  4.       Remove the autoguider controller and mounting frame.
Removal of the Fibre Module
  1.       Put the access platform in place.
  2.       Disconnect and remove the cabling from AF2 to the telescope top ring connectors. Store in the AF2 cabinet in the dome.
  3.       Remove the fibre connectors from the telescope and fit the protective caps.
  4.       Carefully remove the fibres from the telescope and lay flat and straight on the dome floor.
  5.       Remove the swan neck from the telescope and store in the dome area.
  6.       Carefully take all the blue science fibres and coil them in a spiral, starting from the centre to the outside, into the storage rack on the fibre module.
  7.       Carefully take the black guide fibre and coil it in a spiral into the storage rack on the fibre module.
  8.       Securely tie the fibres into the storage rack.
  9.       Using three people, take the weight of the fibre module and unbolt it.
  10.       Remove the fibre module, taking care not to lose the spacers, and put into its storage case with the spacers.
