Previous: Failure before set-up
The set-up can fail during field configuration for a number of reasons.
For all of these, except for one possibility given below, you
will have to call the Support Astronomer or Duty Tech. Expert
attention is required to avoid doing damage to the complex AF2 system.
Do not type any AF2/Wyffos commands until you have obtained help.
- Occasionally the configuration fails due to an illegal move
during the set-up. Although the configuration is checked
for `legality' before the positioning starts, it can happen
that a small error in positioning a fibre during a configuration
results in a subsequent illegal move. Try to re-setup the
field. This errors happen more often with a densely packed
field, and running af2_configure with a larger buffer factor
(1.05 instead of 1.00) will probably ensure that the problem
does not occur.
