4.14 BSCW Helper program

4.14.1 Helper for Unix
4.14.2 Helper for Windows
4.14.3 Helper for MacOS

As an alternative to the file upload function of Netscape Navigator and of MS Internet Explorer (version 4.0 or better) -- or possibly as a necessary supplement to other browsers -- you may use a BSCW Helper program to upload Documents to your Workspaces.

The Helper programs can upload several files "in one operation" and in general they correctly recognize the MIME types of the Documents. In addition, they display a progress bar to show how much longer it will take to upload the files.

Download the appropriate Helper program from GMD's public BSCW server (http://bscw.gmd.de/Download.html) -- possibly also from your BSCW server -- install it on your local system and adjust your browser to handle the MIME type that brings up the Helper program.

The BSCW Helper programs may be used without a license fee.

Note:
BSCW recognizes that your Web browser supports file upload. In this case using this function is set as a default. If you prefer to use a Helper program instead of your Web browser,
Using this option in your Preferences form, you can always switch between the two modes of file upload, as conditions require.
