4.2.2.1 JavaScript

If your browser can handle JavaScript, BSCW offers the options to locally

• switch between the compact and the full representations of Folder pages,
• select or de-select all objects in the Folder page.

The advantages: The operations are performed faster and less bandwidth is consumed, because there is no need to request and to send updated pages from the BSCW server.

The disadvantages: You have to allow your browser to interpret JavaScript and to accept cookies. The HTML files of the Folder pages are bloated by the JavaScripts; this consumes additional bandwidth and may lead to longer load delays.

The longer your Folder pages and the smaller the screen window of your browser, the more interesting this option may be for you. Also, when you move, copy or archive large groups of objects in managing your shared Workspaces, this option may be suitable for you.

If you plan to use this option,

• Make sure that your Web browser can interpret JavaScript, that this functionality is in fact activated and that you have allowed your Web browser to accept cookies;
• Click [Edit Prefs] in the footer of a Folder page;
• Click    in the top button bar of the 'Edit preferences' form;
• In the 'Edit more preferences ...' form, mark the checkbox to the left of
