1. Summary

This document summarises the changes made to I20-1-0, the latest version in the I20 release tree of the INT Telescope Control System, to produce the release tree I22.

4. Deliverables and Installation

• The CMS classes necessary to build TCS versions in the I22 release tree are defined in Section 8, they are also defined in the version files in [INT_LOGIN.VERSION].
• CMS libraries containing the source code for the TCS, the PLOT and CAMTEST utilities, and the build procedures are held on LPAS3; the root directory for the CMS libraries is defined by the logical name SOURCE_DIR.
• The release notes document for the I22 release tree (this document) is stored in ~docs/tcs/intrel/tcs-intrel-22/tcs-intrel-22.html
• The Latex source for the INT User Manual is stored in ~mpf/docs/tcs/int_manual/int_old.tex . Note that this file needs updating. The Postscript version is in www.ing.iac.es/Astronomy/observing/manuals/ps/tcs/int.ps

5. Reasons for release

I22-1-0

New features

• A new keyboard layout for the handset is introduced, which will allow full control of the TCS from a Sun keyboard. Some function keys have also changed. The new layout is given below.

• A new DRAMA command PULLIN has been provided. This will start autoguiding on a specified pixel position and will wait until the guidestar is within a given distance from the pixel position before sending a completion status. The command will timeout after 30 seconds.

  The format is : PULLIN x y, and should be sent using cmd TCS PULLIN x y. It should not be sent using cmd TCS USER PULLIN x y, as the TCS USER action will always complete immediately.

  PULLIN will send the command AUTOGUIDE ON x y WAIT to the TCS.

• A new TCS command AGLIMIT has been provided. This command can be used to change the limit used to determine whether the guide star is in position, useful in conditions of bad seeing. The default limit is 0.5 arcseconds.

  The format is : AGLIMIT d, where d is in arcseconds with a range of 0 to 5.

• The TCS command AUTOGUIDE has been amended to ignore the gain parameters, which have been redundant since the new autoguide algorithm was introduced in 2002. A new parameter, WAIT, replaces the gain parameters.
  The AUTOGUIDE command now has the format : AUTOGUIDE ON [x y [WAIT]].
  The format AUTOGUIDE ON x y EWgain NSgain will still be accepted for backwards compatibility.
  When sending a command via DRAMA, it is no longer necessary to use -1 -1 for the pixel coordinates when they are not needed, ie. for AUTOGUIDE ON or AUTOGUIDE OFF.

• Control of the PF rotator has been removed from the TCS. The actual position of the PF rotator can be input using the command ROTATOR MOUNT position or ROTATOR SKY position. The TCS starts up with the position defined as 180 degrees.
• The focusrun problem that occurred when the SLOWOFF offset was the same as the current offset has been fixed.
