Capfast Installation

The whole installation has been dealt with by CFG. CSG has responsability to pay and get support for the package though. We have a single user floating license server running on auriga. The package was purchased about March 2000, after we had a Y2K bug and couldn't restart the appplication.

Chong cut us down a deal to restart the server at EPICS bargain offer price (1000 bucks).

If you anticipate other problems, one needs subscribe to a licence support agreement (better contact Chong for more details).

  Here's a shortlist of things needed for ING installation

  • install the generic EPICS and Gemini symbols

    source:
    
    Epics: taken from old release, also available on the web
    
    Gemini: taken from geminiApp in CVS

    destination:
    
    ~p3/library/epics

  • install the generic EPICS and Gemini menus

    in ~p3/wcs/lib/menus.new
    
    add the following menus:

    • epicss.mnu
    • epics.mnu
    • epicsl.mnu
    
    
    and create the additional menus
    • libepics.mnu
    • libepicsl.mnu
    • libepicss.mnu

  • configure for new menus

    edit ~p3/wcs/lib/menus.new/picklib.mnu
    
    add:

    text &EPICS (small) Library
    
    string :set libchoice epicss;:mload schedit2;:echo 'Part' menu updated.
    
    text &EPICS (large) Library
    
    string :set libchoice epicsl;:mload schedit2;:echo 'Part' menu updated.

  • set default menu to be Epics (small)

    edit menus.new/schedit.mnu and set the following:

    text &Part
    
    string :popup libepicss

  • configure for new symbols

    edit ~p3/wcs/lib/cad.rc

    add (ad lib):

      ~p3/library/epics

    To avoid warning while compiling ISISP, I had to modifiy the ~p3/library/epics/*mbbo* files and shorten up the DESC fields
