The Group accepted the minutes as a true and factual account of the meeting held on the 29th of June 2001.
20000512.4 JC : Supply NWG with exact figure for acceptable level of connectivity. Send security requirements to all UIs as he will not be present at the security meeting (neither will the other HEGRA representative Toni Coarsa). This will be provided within the next 2 months by Toni.
20010629.1 DS : To make network diagram available on the WWW - ongoing.
20010629.2 DS : To circulate "Acceptable Use" policy before the next meeting.
20010629.4 TC : To investigate releasing the HEGRA security policy to the other members of the group.
Diego presented a network diagram and the router rules.
DCA reported that 13 hours were lost in the first 6 months of the calendar year. This equates to approximately 0.3% downtime. Main problem caused by UPS failure.
There was a report regarding a power loss in the Residencia without appropriate announcements. Diego to contact Juan Carlos to determine cause.
The ING to make relevant policies available when available. [DC]
Is there a need to suggest to the OSC that a sitewide IT policy should be implemented?[ML] After considerable discusses it was suggested that this would be a reasonable approach. This will be discussed further using the mailing list.
Markku circulated a document entitled "Building a bridging firewall with Linux". It was explained that a NOT firewall was installed based upon this document.
1) Luis raised the issue about VPN connections via ADSL. These users are connected to the IAC network and thus could be thought of has being outside of the IAC network. This could impose a security issue.
2) IAC to investigate installing Qmail as oppose to Sendmail.
3) Copper wire (Category 5) will be insalled in the new building with ATM switches. Diego explained the setup in the new Centre.
4) NOT security incidence.
