Exit procedure

On EXIT the following actions ensue:

• All requests defined during the session are forwarded to the archive manager for authorization; request are queued.
• Print files created during the session will be submitted to the printer (default or otherwise, see section ), or will be sent to the user's E-mail address. Subsequently the files are deleted.
• If /NOSAVE is specified, all query tables, symbols, etc. will be deleted.
• ARCQUERY updates some statistics of archive usage.

The qualifiers with the EXIT command of interest are:

• /SAVE, or /NOSAVE, to save the query context, or not. On the captive account, an absent /[NO]SAVE qualifier will result in a prompt for a decision.

  The saved query context consists of all query tables, list files and symbols that exist at the moment of termination, and of possible changes made to your user information. A saved query context can be restored at the begin of your next ARCQUERY session. Note, however, that on the captive account, the context is deleted 7 days after the last modification.

  The possibility to save the context after a session enables a user to interrupt a search at any point, and come back later, for instance after studying a (mailed) listing of the selection(s) made.

• /[NO]MAIL, to specify that any print files (section ) must be mailed or not to the user's (current) E-mail address. If this qualifier is absent, print files will be output to the default output device; this can be E-mail, but may also be a line printer, depending from where the captive account is accessed. If you do want output via E-mail, always use the /MAIL qualifier on exit:

  EXIT/MAIL/SAVE , or: EXIT/MAIL/NOSAVE

  If you have registered as archive user (see section ), ARCQUERY knows your E-mail address by default. Note that your E-mail address may be (re)defined explicitly during the session (see section ).

  If you have not yet registered as user, and have not specified an electronic mail address with the ADDRESS function, ARCQUERY wil try to find a way back to you for mail output via the network path of your login. This is not always successful.
