MIT/LL was very interesting, with plenty of expertise. They have made thinned
devices (with good reported performance), and also devices with formats of

format are underway. They have also made and
operated a
imager at 1Mhz withe 6e noise. It was good to visit them, but
whether they can find a way of serving our community, at a manageable cost
remains to be seen. They are not allowed to compete with commercial companies,
and have only been used to high levels of USAF funding. Luppino and others in
the US are pursuing this. MIT appeared to express interest, and implied that a
Government-related lab. might be able to deal with them..
