GENERAL COMMANDS

The commands listed below are an initial set of commands that allow full control of the A and G Box.

• In the commands GDX, GDY and GDXY below and the status queries X? and Y?, the units are given in terms of 5 microns (equivalent to 0.07 arc second). The drift scan table units are in terms of 1 micron (equivalent to 0.014 arc second).

• The program FINDSTAR that finds guide stars by offsetting the telescope so that the TV can view the autoguider field searches and scans across a large area of sky. Particularly at low galactic latitudes you are likely to scan across one or more bright stars. To protect the TV camera:

  TURN THE GAIN RIGHT DOWN BEFORE STARTING EACH OFFSET
