! FK5 GRID    Grid of FK5 stars with accurate positions and 
! --------    proper motions for use in determining telescope pointing models.
!
! Selection : There is a basic grid for the whole sky plus extra stars within 
!             2 degrees of the zenith to improve calculations for an ALTAZ 
!             telescope. The 'extra' stars are called ZENnn.   The grid star 
!             names begin with either S or N indicating whether they are north 
!             or south of the zenith at R de LM in the year 2000. The grid 
!             stars were selected at approximately 1 hour intervals in Right 
!             Ascension and 15 degrees in Declination, with alternate hour 
!             zones offset in declination. Each R.A. zone with a star near +30 
!             degrees has two stars selected, one north and the other south
!             of the zenith.
!
! CHANGES 01 RAL 30-Sep-1988 Replaced N21+37 (appears to be the average of the
!                            positions of 61 Cyg A and B) and added N13+82.

! Faintest GRID  Grid of CMC and Hipparcos stars with accurate positions and
! -------------  proper motions for use in determining telescope pointing

! Selection : There is a basic grid for the whole sky, the stars have
!             magnitudes approximately 10th or 11th.  The grid should not
!             be used until a good pointing model has been developed,
!             since there is otherwise a significant risk of
!             misidentification. It is intended for use when the stars 
!             in the other grids saturate the CCD.
!
!             Each star was checked on the STScI Digistised Sky Survey to
!             ensure that there is no other star of brighter or similar 
!             magnitude within 2 arcminutes.  The stars were also checked
!             on the US Naval Observatory Guide Star Catalogue, and the
!             B and I magnitudes were noted. Stars with vey extreme
!             colours were rejected.  In some cases there were no suitable
!             stars in the CMC, and in these cases the Hipparcos
!             catalogue was searched.  There is less choice using Hipparcos, 
!             as most of the Hipparcos stars are too bright, so some of
!             the stars are rather furthur from their ideal grid position 
!             than they were in the previous grids.  Information on colour
!             is provided after the ! on each line.  For the stars from
!             US Naval Observatory Guide Star Catalogue the B and R magnitudes
!             are given.  In some cases, where one of these is missing 
!             the APM catalogue was used.  In these cases an 'A' indicates
!             the origin of the magnitudes.  For the Hipparcos stars a B-V
!             is given, followed by an 'H'.  In a few cases it was not
!             possible to find a colour, so the star was checked on the red 
!             and blue sky sky survey, to check that it did not appear unusual.
!             The first magnitude given after the '!' is the V magnitude
!             given in the astrometric catalogue.
!
!             The grid stars were selected at approximately 1 hour intervals 
!             in Right Ascension and 15 degrees in Declination, with 
!             alternate hour zones offset in declination.
