starting up & shutting down Alpha TCS + Autoguider + Observers

STARTING UP
Start the Alpha TCS
- On lpx22 open up a telnet window and connect to lpas2 as INT_LOGIN
- Choose options->version to change to the TCS/obssys versions in use
- From main menu, type start. This starts up two other windows, the
infodisplay and the user interface window, the original window continues
being active as the telescope d-task window; be patient this takes a few
seconds
Observers station (intics)
- login as observer
- Type obssys at the SYS> prompt
- Select observing system in use
- Type startobssys at SYS> prompt
With startobssys the observers observing system is fired up,
including the Autoguider interface. No windows pops up on the
TO terminals.
Check the TCS INFO display to see whether the TCS has been setup
for the right configuration, e.g. PRIME or CASS ( you can use the
TCS command SHOW FOCAL)
IDS: Now follows 7-star calibrate on TV, GSS, ...
SHUTTING DOWN
If you need to shutdown the observing system, either to restart it because of
problems, or simply at the end of the night's observing, proceed as follow
Observer's Station
- To the SYS>prompt type shutdownobssys. This removes all processes and
cleans up the system for leftover processes.
TO's Station
- Exit the TCS by typing TCS>tcsexit
