Startup using COMPILE option

The normal startup will not work correctly on change of focal station or if system parameters like pointing coefficients have been altered. In these cases use the COMPILE option.

The control software is initialised from two text files, one containing quantities which do not depend on the focal station or instrument (e.g. servo constants and CAMAC addresses), the other containing focus-specific data such as pointing coefficients. The files currently available are:-

If one of these files has been changed, or if there has been a change of focal station (involving a top-end change), the control software MUST be loaded by typing:-

The process takes about 2 minutes, and prints various messages on the System Console.
(The COMPILE option generates a pair of binary files INPSCF.SYM and INPSCF.VAL from the .STD files, which can be read in more quickly when the normal startup GO INT is used on subsequent occasions.)
