The following conventions for computerese have been used more-or-less
consistently throughout this manual:
- Examples of commands entered at the terminal are in typewriter font:
TFFILTER 5, as are messages from the computer;
- Angle brackets denote parameter values or character strings:
<angle>;
- Square brackets denote optional input e.g. [x,y]; all other
parameters are obligatory;
