FILT(ER) - Change filter

This command is used to select a filter by name from a previously defined wheel.

Argument: filter name or filter position. If filter name consists entirely of a number then filter name must be in quotes.

Examples

Adam:> FILTER I (set filter wheel to I-band filter)

Adam:>FILTER 6 (set filter wheel to position 6)

Adam:>FILTER ``6'' (set filter wheel to whatever position the filter whose name is 6 is in)

BUG: there are occasional time-outs for long filter-wheel rotations. These can always be bypassed by repeating the command (the wheel may have stopped at some intermediate position and anyway the computer is no longer sure where it is, even if it hasn't moved).

BUG: occasionally, the filter wheel becomes unsure of the position it has reached. Move it somewhere and then move it back again.
