As the autoguider does not look through the same filter as the CCD, its focus is not affected by filter changes. Consequently, if the telescope focus is altered to compensate for an alteration in filter thickness, the autoguider focus must be changed by an equal and opposite amount. This is enabled by typing:
Adam:> SETGDFOCUS f
where f is the best autoguider focus for the current filter.
Example
Adam:> SETGDFOCUS 2.7
drives the autoguider focus to 2.7mm and thereafter adjusts it as appropriate on filter change.
Before this command is made, the autoguider focus is adjusted on the assumption that its value is +2.7mm if no filter is inserted.
