Pre-delivery tests

Prior to the delivery of a software system to ING it is important to establish whether the system can usefully be commissioned at ING. This has led to the practice of pre-delivery testing, during which the software system is put through all the planned acceptance tests at the institution that has been responsible for the development programme. Where the software needs to interact with machinery at ING, simulation software should be provided (as far as is reasonable) in order to exercise this interaction.

Pre-delivery tests are expected to be performed as a formal set of tests in the spirit of the acceptance tests to be performed during commissioning. It is normal for an ING software engineer to be present during these tests.

After the completion of the pre-delivery tests, both for the software and any hardware resulting from the development project, a meeting will be held with ING and project managers to establish whether it is reasonable to deliver the product to ING for commissioning on the basis of the results from these tests.

The pre-delivery testing is one of the most important milestones of an engineering project destined for delivery to ING. If it established that the software and any hardware have performed acceptably during testing, delivery marks a committment by ING to commission the product.
