1.  Power down/up procedure. In general it is not vitally important which order things are done. The epics rack (VME) will need to read data from the interface rack (sub rack) on boot up. For this reason it is better to switch on the interface rack before the VME rack.


2.  If the Lyot stop daemon is not running do the following:

There are two ways of restarting the daemon. The first way is to restart the observing system which restarts everything and the second way would be to simply do what you do with any other UNIX process and kill it and restart it. This can be done using the following recipe

ps -Aef | grep Lyot

you should then find a process called

tclsh /wht/release/bin/LyotStopAngleUpdate

which you should then kill. You can restart the process by simply typing LyotStopAngleUpdate from the whtobs commandline prompt.
