This page will explain how to view an INGRID image from a windows PC when it is installed with Exceed.

 

INGRID image viewing


-Start "Exceed (XDMCP-Broadcasy)"
-Choose a host (for example lpss37)
-Login
-open a terminal
'(right click and under Tools you find Terminal)

-In the terminal type:
user@lpss37> mkiraf
Initialize uparm? (y|n): y
-- initializing uparm
Terminal types: xgterm,xterm,gterm,vt640,vt100,etc.
Enter terminal type: xgterm
A new LOGIN.CL file has been created in the current directory.
You may wish to review and edit this file to change the defaults.
user@lpss37> xgterm -sb&

user@lpss37>

'Now you have initialized Iraf and started a xgterm

-In the xgterm type:
mfb@lpss37> cd
'To go to the home directory
mfb@lpss37> ximtool &
[1] 9643
'To open ximtool
mfb@lpss37> cl
'To start the iraf session

-In the xgterm:
cl>ingrid_ql
'this will start the quick look package for INGRID

-In the xgterm go to the wanted directory
'for excample  "in>cd /obsdata/whta/ingridfocus20011006"
-To look at an image type
in> idisp RUNNUMBER.fit
'this will get the image form the pre and post read and works it out
-with imexa and the comands you can examine the image
'"e" for contour plot
'"q" to exit imexa


To exit just close all windows and exit the x-session.
