Optical capabilities

The main duty of the optics group, in the Telescope & Instruments Group of the ING, is the maintenance of all the optical surfaces within the ING. This means monitoring the reflectivity and cleaning the main primary, secondary and tertiary mirror of the 3 telescopes. Also measuring the optical and cosmetical quality of all the other optical surfaces like filters, other mirrors and lenses is included.

Next to these main duties the Optics Group is capable of doing outside work. Experience has been developed in the fields of aluminising, snow cleaning, vapour washing of mirrors and doing fibre work.
