Every Day

• Check all telescope equipment and current instrumentation fuctions correctly.  This is done by the Ops Team.
• Check the fault database for faults.  This is done by the ops team.

• Check all panel indicator lamps and replace defective ones
• Check that a randomly selected emergency stop button works when the telescope is tracking
• Check all encoders are working during tracking

• Check the CAMAC crates have a full complement of control cards.  Replace any that are missing.
• Check the telescope tracking accuracy.  Use siderial time  +2 hours and -2 hours.  Use declination of 10 and 50.  Four readings in all.
• Record all tracking error values in the the log for each position.

• Check oil levels in all telescopes
• Check the telescope store spares and order replacement spares

• Check all equipment is secure on the telescopes.
• Tighten all screws on the control racks on the telescope

• Check all cabinets and control equipment visually
• Clean all air vents and filters on the electronic racks and motors.
• Check that all cooling fans on electronic equipment are running.  Replace defective ones
• Check all emergency stop buttons work when the telescope is tracking.
• Check all safety equipment on the telescopes work.  For example, safety gates.

• Aluminise mirrors
• Change motor brushes
• Clean linear enocoders
