1. Collect the box of RAM disks, the SCSI disk drive and the blue folder from the CCD lab. All are clearly marked.
2. Switch off the controller.
3. Connect the SCSI drive to the back of the controller.
4. Switch on the SCSI drive and then switch on the CCD controller.
5. You should see the controller boot, if it locks up as it loads then reboot again and hit control C.
6. Each CCD now has a dedicated 3.25" disk take the appropriate disk and insert into the drive.
7. Type INSITE
1. The RAM disk is held in EEPROM on the sequencer card. If you change the sequencer you must reload the RAM disk even if the controller appears to be working.
2. The RAM disk code is occasionally subject to corruption, often this is obvious by typing RAM-DISK and then 1 LIST and 2 LIST until 18 LIST , corruption is often obvious, chinese instead of forth !
3. When a controller is not performing and there is no obvious problem
reloading the RAM disk is a good first step, corruption is not always obvious.
The forth application software is held on FLASH memory on the SCSI interface card. If this card is changed then the version must be checked using the SEE command. If it is incorrect then it will need to be reloaded, corruption has not been a problem.
To reload take the CCD UPGRADE disc from the same box as the RAM-disk
type type
INSITE
5 LOAD and
follow the instructions.
It is very important that controllers have the correct version of both
RAM disk and forth application some are incompatible and might even give
the impression of a hardware fault.
