A novel light source has been developed using a hybrid LED/Photodiode I.C.
This monitor photodiode is coupled to a high bandwidth amplifier and is used
to servo the LED brightness.
For exposures above 5ms, the lamp output remains stable to better than 0.25%. It is particularly useful for linearity measurement of CCD camera systems. In this application the optical stimulus to the chip will be directly proportional to the exposure time. Low level thresholding effects and high level saturation problems are thus easily diagnosed.
